Our Mission.

 ​
Our mission is to provide quality health care, excluding emergency care and obstetrics, to the employed uninsured without regard to race, creed and ethnicity, in a safe environment and respectful manner.

Established in 1991

•1996 Free Clinic moved to its own facility
•2001 –2003 -service expansion from one night to three days a week (Community Foundation Grant)
•Annually, 3,500-4,000  uninsured patients call the Free Clinic  their medical home
•Partnership with the three major hospitals, Nursing Department of U of M, Flint, Genesee Health Plan and other area medical facilities
•Free Clinic is recognized as an integral part of Genesee County safety net

How we serve the community

Patients benefit from services of VOLUNTEER doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other professionals (over 100 on-site on rotating basis). Staff is 4 FTEs. 
•Funded through GRANTS, ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT and PRIVATE DONATIONS
•All services (including prescribed medications) on-site or by referrals are free of charge

A great new addition who provides valuable healthcare to the patients of the Genesee County Free Medical Clinic.  Meanwhile teaching McLaren physicians in the Resident Program valuable skills in healthcare delivery 




McLaren Residents,
Volunteer Physicians & Physician Assistants,  and Volunteer Nurses from area healthcare facilities give their time on a weekly and or monthly basis to serve the patients of Genesee County

Board President

For over 10 years Dr. Kakarla has provided support to the GCFMC as the Medical Director.  She now begins her oversight as the Board President.
